Potato Biryani Recipe

Potato Biryani is type of Vegetable Biryani where instead of Meat we will be using Potato as Vegetable. For making Potato Biryani we need to select the potato carefully they should be of good quality and not greenish color, potatoes are easily available all over. Cooking Potatoes take very less amount of time as they are very soft and edible. Procedure to Cook Potato Biryani is similar to that of cooking Vegetable Biryani, but it takes less time. Below is the recipe to cook Potato Biryani for two people.

  •     Ghee 3 tablespoon
  •     Tej Patta 1
  •     Cardamom 2
  •     Cloves 4-5
  •     Cinnamon 2
  •     4 Onion Chopped
  •     2 Tomatoes Chopped
  •     Ginger Garlic Paste 2 tablespoon
  •     Coriander Leaves 3-4 Branches
  •     Mint Leaves 3-4 branches
  •     Biryani Masala 1/2 Tablespoon
  •     Water 1/2 Cup
  •     Salt 1 Tablespoon
  •     Potato 2 Cups Outer Layer Removed and Cut in to small pieces
  •     Rice Half KG (Bullet / Basmati)
  •     Water 3/4 Litre





  1. Take Cooking Vessel Clean the Rice with Water, Remove Water. Cook Rice with 3/4 liter water add 1/2 tablespoon of Salt
  2. Cook until Rice gets 3/4 Cooked, Remove the water from Rice
  3. Take Cooking Pan Heat into Medium Flame add Ghee and then Onion Fry for 1-2 min and Keep Mixing Onions until Golden Brown
  4. Add spices Tej Patta, Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamon and Ginger Garlic Paste keep mixing for 1 minute
  5. Now add Chopped Tomato, Coriander, Mint Leaves, Biryani Masala and ½ Cup Water Mix Well
  6. After 1-2 minute add potatoes mix well and cover with lid cook until 5 minutes
  7. Add Above 3/4 Cooked Rice into Potato Mixture and Mix well
  8. Cover the lid and cook for another 3 minutes, Once cooked well switch off the flame and serve Hot
