Biryani Masala Powder Recipe

Biryani is an famous Indian Origin dish prepared with lot of spices and masala. Biryani requires Biryani Masala Powder for adding spicy taste to it. Biryani Masala Powder is mixture of spices, can be home made easily and can be used when ever its required. 

Some does not prefer Biryani Masala bought from store that's packed with plastic wrapper as it does not add flavor and some are adulterated with low quality spices. So why not prefer homemade Biryani Masala and prepare your own, below is the recipe to make bottle full of Biryani Masala Powder and store it in dry bottle

  • 2 table spoon cardamom / elaichi
  • 2 table spoon black pepper /
  • 3 bay leaf / tej patta
  • 3 sticks of cinnamon / dalchini
  • 1 table spoon funnel seeds / souff
  • 2 table spoon of cumin seeds / jeera
  • 2 nutmeg / Jaiphal
  • 2 star anise / chakri phool
  • 2 mace / javitri
  • 1 table spoon of black cardamom
  • 5 red chillies
  • 2 table spoon coriander seeds
  • 1 table spoon cloves
  • half table spoon turmeric
  • 1 table spoon caraway seeds


  1. Keep the above ingredients separate in to sunlight for 3-4 days so that it does not contain any moisture
  2. Take dry pan heat in to low flame and add each spice and roast it for 30 seconds
  3. Try to not over roast them keep mixing and and removing each spices one by one
  4. As each spice takes its own time to roast its better to roast them separately
  5. Take the roasted spices in to plate and let them cool for 10 minutes
  6. After cooling grind the above spices using mixer grinder until fine powder
  7. Filter the above Biryani Masala and store it into dry bottle / container
  8. Use the above powder when ever you prepare your Favorite Biryani !
