Power On, Power Off, Restart or Rebuild the Power System using Hardware Management Console Command Line

Power Systems can be managed using the Hardware Management Console (HMC). HMC Provides both Graphical User Interface (GUI) as well as Command Line Interface (CLI) in order to Power on and Power off the command there are multiple options provided by the HMC.

Power off the system immediate


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o off --immed

Power off the system normally


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o off

List the state of Power System


hscroot@myhmc1:~> lssyscfg -r sys -Fname:state
system1:Operating
system2:Power Off In Progress
system3:Power Off
system4:Initializing
system5:Standby

Power on the System with Hardware Discovery Mode


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o onhwdisc

Power on the System with Standby Mode


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o onstandby

Power on the system Normally


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o on

Restart the Power System


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o off --immed --restart

Rebuild the Power System


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate -m system3 -r sys -o rebuild

The below commands should be used with cautious as it Powers on / off / restarts all the Power System connected to HMC. 

Power off all the Power Systems connected to HMC


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate --all -r sys -o off --immed

Power On all the Power Systems Connected to HMC


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate --all -r sys -o on

Restart all the Power Systems connected to HMC


hscroot@myhmc1:~> chsysstate --all -r sys -o off --immed --restart
