Dump Restart Logical Partition LPAR using HMC Command line

Collecting the Logical Partition dump using dumprestart option. Below is the command to dump restart the logical partition

user@hmc:~> chsysstate -r lpar -m system -o dumprestart  -n partition01
user@hmc:~>

KDB Mode Enabled 

If KDB mode is enabled the partition will go in to KDB mode. Then run "q dump" command as it refers to quit after collecting dump when the LPAR is in KDB Mode.

KDB(123)> q dump

KDB Mode Disabled 

If KDB mode is disabled it will display dump is in progress at the Welcome to AIX banner

The partition will reboot after collecting the partition dump and dump can be checked using "sysdumpdev -L". Start collecting the dump in to directory using /usr/sbin/snap -ad /some_directory. Find dump.BZ file and next set the ulimits to unlimited

ulimit -d unlimited
ulimit -s unlimited
ulimit -f unlimited

Decompress the dmpuncompress -p dump.BZ file. Then gunzip unix.Z file and run kdb dump unix will make to launch the kdb session of dump.
